Cross-Platform (New)

New in Version 4, BorinGS runs natively on all 3 major platforms (Windows, Mac, and Linux)!  BorinGS uses the same data files across platforms, so you can work on your Windows machine at work, your Mac at home, and your Linux netbook in the field.

Windows

Easy to Use

Data entry screens for soil layers and samples makes using BorinGS easy.  Entering headers is facilitated through the use of “quickfill” lists that allow you to predefine commonly used items (such as drill rig types) so entering them in multiple logs is both easy and consistent.

Fence Diagrams (IMPROVED)

Improved in Version 4, fence diagrams are an incredibly useful tool to help get a quick feel for a site’s subsurface conditions.  Easily print a project file’s existing logs as fence diagrams, including a basic site plan and material key on the page.

Color Output

Color often makes identifying troublesome soil layers easier, and with BorinGS you can define a default color for each material type.  Additionally, you can override this default color for each soil layer, so you can change a layer’s color to make it pop.

Of course, you can override the color printing when you print to black and white for photocopied reports.

Well Logs

From very simple single-casing wells to multiple casings, easily generate well-completion diagrams with BorinGS.

Column Editor (IMPROVED)

An essential part of BorinGS is the ability to print exactly what you need for a given situation.  With the improved column editor, you can select which columns to print and in which order.  Control over tickmarks and labels has been improved, and groundwater symbols can now be resized and printed in any column.  Up to seven custom columns (think laboratory data) are supported, and can be displayed in any order on the log.

Page Editor (IMPROVED)

Along with the improved column editor, the page editor has also been improved.  The key, first log page, and remaining log pages can be configured independently and can even be designed and printed on different size pages (design based on Letter, but automatically scale to Legal).  Portrait and landscape printing is as simple as picking it in the page editor.  Customizing placement of the logo, footer, figure, and sheet numbers is easy.

Material, Sampler, and Hatch Editors (IMPROVED)

BorinGS allows for easy customization of any number of material and sampler types.  Edit hatch combinations, line widths, default colors, and more!

PDF Output

BorinGS uses PDF files for previewing and printing logs – so what you see is truly what you get.  Emailing logs and saving output digitally has never been easier.
